Will you
be able to hypnotise me?
Some people are
concerned that it may not be possible to hypnotise
them, but this very seldom proves to be the case.
This deeply relaxed state is highly desirable and it
becomes easier for everyone to achieve with
practice. Self hypnosis is taught for this reason.
What will it feel
like?
The experience
differs between people and sessions, but the most
common theme is a very welcome sense of deep
relaxation. Subjectively, hypnosis is comparable
with the familiar feeling experienced in between
sleeping and waking, as you drift off into sleep or
up into wakefulness. So it is true to say that
everyone experiences the hypnotic state on a regular
basis.
Can I stay 'stuck in a hypnotised state'?
When practised by a
fully trained clinical hypnotherapist, clinical
hypnosis is completely safe and the client remains
in full control. This means you can return to alert
wakefulness at any time, should you wish to do so. A
qualified hypnotherapist will always ensure your
return to full awareness.
What will
happen when I attend?
The first appointment
will take an hour and a half so that a detailed
history can be taken. Subsequent appointments last
for one hour. Sessions include full discussions
about the condition or habit you want to change; as
well as about your lifestyle and general well being.
There will be a
discussion about hypnosis and you will be able to
ask questions. Many first-time clients have initial
worries; will they be made to look foolish or lose
control? Every attempt will be made to remove your
concerns before your first hypnotic experience.
Then you will be
guided into deep relaxation. A gentle process of
introducing positive suggestions to help alter the
attitude, condition or habit for which you are
seeking therapy then takes place. Finally, you will
be guided back to full awareness and you will feel
refreshed, relaxed and alert; and the changes you
desire will already be under way!
